I am sitting here with a baby boy on my lap. He is milk drunk and sleepy. I am exhausted and filled with so much joy and love. There is nothing quite like having that gaping baby-shaped hole filled up to overflowing with this beautiful boy. I find myself in tears throughout the day, overwhelmed with gratitude that we get to have this boy in our lives.
I would like to introduce you to him. On this photo is the only time I’ll share his name on the blog. Henceforth, he will be known as Baby Genius (BG), Egghead, Tomatohead, or just C.
We have been home for just two days, and already we have had to go to the doctor twice. C has jaundice, and we’re hoping that the last day of feeding and sun are helping to clear some of it up; otherwise, he may have to go back to the hospital tonight. Please hope the best for us.
There is so much I want to say. I have a birth story to write, and I’m eager to do so. It was a beautiful birth experience–some of it precisely what we had hoped it would be, and some of it less so, but in the end it was the perfect birth for us and for our son. It’s so much to process.
For now, we’re figuring out our way as a family, learning the ropes of breastfeeding, and marveling at the wonder that is our son.

I had HORRIBLE jaundice when I was born, and nothing does the trick quite like layin in the sun. . .bring on that vitamin D. I do hope that you do not need to go back to the hospital, as he is truly beautiful & should stay in the safety and the warmth of the nest you have built, and the loving arms that hold him.

I wish it were a great camera, but it’s just a Canon Powershot–a point and shoot. One day I’ll have the SLR of my dreams, but for now this will have to do…

He is beautiful!!!! Mackenzie has jaundice and she has been to the Dr. 5 days in a row. She is gaining weight though and we need to do a better job of putting her in sunlight.
